OHCC receives 2010 Ron Draper Health Promotion Award

OHCC is pleased to announce their selection as the recipient  of the CPHA 2010 Ron Draper Health Promotion Award. This Award is presented to an individual, group or organization engaged in community work who has made a significant contribution to health promotion by working in the community to: build healthy public policy, create environments that support health, enable community action, enhance personal skills, and/or re-orient health services. Healthy Communities: An Approach to Action on Health Determinants in Canada

About the Project

The Healthy Community movement is a dynamic force in many communities across Canada that brings together groups from many sectors to plan and implement strategies to enhance community well-being and address complex community issues. This project aims to demonstrate that the Healthy Community approach is an effective way to address chronic disease prevention.

Participating provincial Healthy Community networks will collaborate across disciplines, sectors, languages and geography to:

The Healthy Communities Consortium, funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion as part of the Healthy Communities Ontario approach, has been created to assist community groups and organizations working on healthy communities initiatives throughout Ontario.
