Inclusive Community Organizations
A community is only “healthy” when all of its members take part. However, some segments of the community are often left out or ignored in planning and decision-making that will affect their well-being. Not-for-profit community organizations can play a strong role in creating more inclusive communities by becoming more inclusive organizations.
This workshop, derived from OHCC’s publication “Inclusive Community Organizations: A Tool Kit” and lessons learned through OHCC’s 2004-2006 Project “Creating Inclusive Community Organizations: A Participatory Research Project” will help you create a more diverse and inclusive organization.
The following topics will be addressed in this workshop:
• Understanding
Diversity
• Benefits of Diversity and Inclusion
• Characteristics of an Inclusive Organization
• Strategies for Creating a More Inclusive Organization
• Methods for Evaluating Inclusion Initiatives
