Our Communities, Our Health, Our Future: Understanding and Changing the Built Environment

This publication provides a summary of the 2008 Healthy Communities and the Built Environment project and includes learnings and conclusions from the project. Additional information is conveyed through a collection of modules, each module relating to a particular aspect of how the built environment impacts health and containing a positive message of how communities can be designed to promote health. Case studies are used throughout to illustrate points made in the various modules. Regardless of our sector or profession, we all have a role to play.

Pathways to a Healthy Community - An Indicators and Evaluation Tool Kit User Guide

The Indicators & Evaluation Tool Kit is a practical resource for OHCC’s Community Animators, members, and community groups to assist them choose an appropriate tool for their evaluation and/or indicators initiative. OHCC has collected what we consider to be 19 of the best evaluation and indicator tools in North America. To accompany the tools we developed a User’s Guide that provides comprehensive details to help groups select the tool most appropriate to their needs.

Communities and Local Government Working Together: A Resource Manual of Strategies

This manual is designed to assist local government and healthy community groups in working more effectively together. The Healthy Communities approach recognizes the key role of local government in creating healthy communities. The initiatives are Ontario-wide, and represent processes launched by various municipalities as well as community driven projects.
