OHCC develops and implements projects, in collaboration with other organizations and networks, to increase knowledge, provide services, contribute to policy development and take action to create and sustain healthy communities.
Current and Recent Projects
Kitchen Table Conversations for Action on Inclusion was aimed at developing an organizational culture that values diversity in leadership, particularly within small community organizations in rural areas, and to help them become more diverse, equitable and inclusive.
The Ontario Community Transportation Network (OCTN) connects individuals, organizations, and transportation providers to facilitate the exchange of information, experiences and best practices about community transportation services in Ontario. This project was a collaborative of OHCC and the Ontario Rural Institute, funded by the Ministry of Transportation-Ontario.
HC Link was created in 2009, when the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care asked Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition (OHCC), Health Nexus and Parent Action on Drugs (PAD), as recognized experts in community-based health promotion, to collaborate on a new project to support community groups working to build healthy communities. Together as HC Link, we provided consulting services, resources and learning and networking events, in English and French. With funding from the Government of Ontario, the majority of our services were provided to communities free of charge. This project was discontinued as of March 31, 2018, but many of the services provided by OHCC continue to be available, though alternate funding arrangements.
